Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek The EU-15's new economy
a statistical portrait
This publication offers a portrait which makes it possible to benchmark the countries involved in terms of how they are managing to achieve the goals of the Lisbon Agenda. It is both comprehensive - covering a broad spectrum of phenomena relevant to the new economy - but at the same time compact, restricting itself to a set of fifty key indicators. The publication provides a well-considered and practical overview of how Europe is performing with regard to the Lisbon Agenda

Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek Labour force survey data on unemployment: identifying outliers
Paper relates unemployment outcomes from the Dutch labour force survey to the number of individuals registered at Dutch employment offices. Both series evolve rather similar, despite the differences in underlying populations. The empirical relationship is quantified with a state space model. This model is used to generate forecasts for the unemployed labour force. By comparing the forecasted values with survey outcomes, outliers can be identified

Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek Estimating consisent table sets: position paper on repeated weighting
Statistics Netherlands is making a considerable effort in combining data from administrative sources with, mainly household, survey data. The resulting large micro dataset with combined data is called: Social Statistical Database (SSD). Estimates related to social statistics are obtained from this SSD. Preferably these estimates should be numerically consistent. At Statistics Netherlands a new estimation method has been developed which, under certain conditions, ensures numerically consistent table...

Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek A model-based approach to the design and application of classification systems
One part of the European research project Clamour concerns the design and operationalisation of activity classification systems on the basis of an earlier developed model describing the structure and activities of businesses. This report describes the results of that part of Clamour. The use of the model in the field of activity classifications has two sides: it supports the specification and implemention of existing classification systems and it provides for a recipe for the design of new classification...
